Barcelona is two thousand years old: a Roman colony, capital of the County of Barcelona in the Middle Ages, then a great Mediterranean port, it kept a neighbourhood from every era. The Barri Gòtic holds its medieval lanes and Roman walls; the Eixample, laid out in the 19th century by Ildefons Cerdà with its chamfered blocks, welcomed Gaudí's Catalan modernism, from the Sagrada Família to Park Güell. And the city remains the capital of Catalonia, with a language, a culture and a character of its own.
I'm here on an internship, so I live it from the inside: the Boqueria market, tapas, terraces late into the night, the beach ten minutes away by metro, sunshine almost all year. A city where people work and go out with the same intensity, where people are friendly and every street has a story. Photos to come.
